My Books

My books are extensions of my thoughts, memories, and questions — shaped through characters, moments, and emotions rooted in our everyday lives. Each story I write is an attempt to listen more deeply to the world around me, and to give voice to the silences within. Whether in fiction or reflection, my aim has always been to remain honest to the language and the lived experience of being human in this time and place.

Nithin’s Book: Book 1 (Malayalam Edition)

Malayalam Edition  by Abhilash Melethil (Author)  Format: Kindle Edition

"Nithin is honest. But not in the way others expect him to be. He feels a sense of helplessness among people. That’s why, upon reaching his twenties, he begins to observe himself and the world with unfiltered clarity and records everything without any attempt at conclusion. The narrative that emerges is neither straightforward nor pleasant.

This work follows a young man from a typical village in Kerala during the latter half of 2002, as he—like many other youths of that era—faces the multiple voices of decay and possibilities that the rise of urbanization brings. Abhilash Melethil's Nithin's Book is a restless piece of writing—like a bird circling the same spot for hours without ever flying away to another place. It is a form of expression that offers no comfort to anyone and defies all attempts to shape it into something aesthetically pleasing.

I see this novel as evolving into a narrative of youth, one that is both unsettling and deeply expressive."

The Byways of Pottali | Pottalile Itavazhikal (Pottalile Itavazhikal, #1) (Malayalam Edition)

Malayalam Edition  by Abhilash Melethil (Author)  Format: Kindle Edition

"Every individual carries many stories. When individuals come together, they form a society. The story of a society is also the story of a place. Through a group of people from Pottali — through their raw, unembellished lives, and the landscapes they traverse — Abhilash takes the reader along on their journey. Pottalile Itavazhikal also marks the political and social changes that ripple through a small village in the aftermath of the demolition of the Babri Masjid in North India."

Nithin’s Book: Book 2 (Malayalam Edition)

Malayalam Edition  by Abhilash Melethil (Author)  Format: Kindle Edition

"This novel, structured like a journal, conveys the experiences of a fleeting and intense phase of youth."

The Byways of Pottali | Pottalile Itavazhikal (Pottalile Itavazhikal, #2) (Malayalam Edition)

Malayalam Edition  by Abhilash Melethil (Author)  Format: Kindle Edition

"If it is human orientations toward life that define regional culture, then it is narrative that shapes the culture of a novel. Pottali is a place with a complex background—at times even monotonous. Yet, when any place begins to bear the weight of history, it reveals astonishing structures. Just as the veins become visible when you closely observe a pressed leaf, the nervous system of Pottali emerges from the pages of this book."
