2. 7. Walks with Walser – Carl Seelig – On Christmas Day, 1956, the police of the town of Herisau in eastern Switzerland were called out: children had stumbled upon the body of a man, frozen to death, in a snowy field. Arriving at the scene, the police took photographs and had the body removed.
The dead man was easily identified: Robert Walser, aged seventy-eight, missing from a local mental hospital.

The Housekeeper and the Professor – Yōko Ogawa – ആവർത്തിച്ചുവന്ന ജാപ്പനീസ് വായനകളിലെ മറ്റൊരു പുസ്തകം – പുതിയ ഓർമ്മകൾ ഒന്നും സൂക്ഷിയ്ക്കാൻ കഴിയാത്ത നിലയിലാണ് ഒരപകടത്തിനുശേഷം പ്രൊഫസറുടെ തലച്ചോർ, അയാൾക്ക് അപ്പോഴും പത്രത്തിൽ വരുന്ന മാത്സ് കോമ്പറ്റിഷനിലെ ചോദ്യങ്ങൾ ചെയ്യാൻ കഴിയുന്നുണ്ട്, അയാളുടെ ചെറുപ്പകാലം ഓർമ്മയുണ്ട്. പുതിയ ഹൗസ് കീപ്പറോടും പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് അവരുടെ മകനോടുമുള്ള അയാളുടെ ബന്ധത്തെപ്പറ്റിയുള്ള കഥയാണ് ഈ നോവെല്ലയിൽ. മാത്സ് എനിയ്ക്കത്രയ്ക്കു പ്രിയമില്ലാത്ത വിഷയമായിരുന്നിട്ടുകൂടി ഈ നോവൽ പിടിച്ചിരുത്തി :-
